She recently sat down with Lo Que Pasa to share how she keeps up with campus happenings and some of the most interesting questions she's gotten from UA visitors. Rountree, a former business manager at a Tucson newspaper, started working as an administrative associate in the Office of University Events before moving to the Visitor Center five years ago. She also helps manage the student workers who hold down the front desk. She arranges, and often leads, a variety of campus tours for community members and future Wildcats. One of two full-time employees at the Visitor Center, Rountree, a program coordinator, works daily to share her wealth of campus knowledge with visitors in search of everything from directions to the Student Union to a UA history lesson. In 2005, an information desk and racks of campus brochures took the place of dining tables and chairs when the Visitor Center moved in. Uncovered during remodeling, the menu is a souvenir left over from one of a series of restaurants that inhabited the building before the UA signed a 20-year lease on the space. the beef tacos and Spanish rice, that's my favorite.Ī bright pink paper menu from Two Pesos Mexican Cafe pinned to the bulletin board in Wendi Rountree's office serves as a reminder of the history of the UA Visitor Center, located at the northwest corner of Euclid and University.
